► WHAT IS MICROMATRIX?

Welcome, traveller. You have entered the MicroMatrix — the web's #1 resource for microservices architecture (since 1999!). Whether you are a l33t sysadmin or a total newbie, you have come to the right place.

Microservices is a way of building software as a collection of small, independent services that communicate over a network. Each service does ONE thing and does it well. Like the Matrix itself — thousands of programs, each with a purpose.

► THE SERVICES
ONLINE
◆ API GATEWAY
The gatekeeper. All traffic enters here. Routes requests to the correct service. SSL termination, rate-limiting, auth.
ONLINE
◆ AUTH SERVICE
Verifies user identity. Issues JWT tokens. The Oracle of your architecture — it knows who you are.
ONLINE
◆ USER SERVICE
Manages profiles, preferences, account data. Owns its own database — the cardinal rule of microservices.
DEGRADED
◆ NOTIFY SVC
Sends emails, SMS, push notifications. Consumes events from the message queue. Currently upgrading to v2.
ONLINE
◆ BILLING SVC
Handles subscriptions and payments. Talks to Stripe via a private internal API. Highly isolated for security.
ONLINE
◆ SEARCH SVC
Elasticsearch-backed full-text search. Indexes updated via async events. Returns fast results for the front-end.
